What is The Uncommon College?

It’s a public-facing journal. I want to use this space to reflect on my experience in education as a teacher, as a student, and as someone in a higher education PhD program.

I want to work out some thoughts on the roles American colleges and universities fulfill today. As I learn more about being a social science researcher in my PhD program, I hope to distill and describe my thoughts about the process of research and the kinds of methods I am building here.

And as much as anything, I want to use this space as a time capsule to document my educational fixations as they come and revisit them later. So yeah, it’s a journal. And you’re welcome to read along.
