Loved hearing that you enjoyed the THON and that it served as a helpful way to avoid reading distractions. Wahoo! Also enjoyed reading about what you read -- I LOVE a campus novel (whatever dark academia is, sign me up forever) but not all campus novels/student stories(?) are the same, and trying to define what I like and don't like about them is an on-going thing.
For sure. This one might get lumped in with the campus novel by careless readers like me, but it really is more of a student story. The campus does not feature in the narrative. Just one student, one classroom, one teacher. So I definitely think there's a difference when an academic setting is used as a backdrop to a story versus when the campus comes alive purposefully in the narrative.
